What is Limewash?
Limewash is one of the oldest paint technologies still made today — a simple, natural mixture of slaked lime, water and mineral pigment. It has coated European farmhouses, Italian villas, Moroccan riads and English country cottages for thousands of years. In recent years it has risen in popularity due to social-media exposure and clear architectural intent.
What makes limewash extraordinary is its living surface. Unlike paint, which sits flat on the wall, limewash chemically bonds with the surface and develops a soft, cloudy depth as it cures. Each brushstroke leaves subtle movement, creating a natural variation that no manufactured paint can replicate. The result is a wall that looks alive, organic and quietly luminous.
Because limewash is 100% natural and free of synthetic chemicals, it is naturally antibacterial, mould-resistant and breathable.
