Arch Suite: Where Every Wall Is a Curve

This private residence had no square corners in its primary suite. Arched doorways, a barrel-vaulted ceiling, curved niches and a soaking tub set into a rounded plinth.

Tile was never a serious option — every curve would have needed cut pieces and a grout line following the radius, which is precisely the visual noise the architect wanted removed.

We ran tadelakt across all wall and vault surfaces, the niches and the tub surround as one continuous skin. Arch soffits were worked last so the burnishing pressure could be matched to the adjacent walls.

The tone is a warm bone-white that picks up the room's north light without going cold. Because the surface is polished rather than matte, the curves read through the sheen — the geometry is visible in the way light travels rather than in any drawn edge.

The tub plinth was formed in plaster on site to match the wall radius, so the bathing area appears carved from the room rather than installed in it.
