Downtown Residence | NYC
A downtown apartment where joinery and full rooms were finished in hand-rubbed French polish — a saturated oxblood study and emerald cabinetry.

The brief asked for colour with depth rather than paint with sheen, so every surface was built in tinted shellac and rubbed back between sessions.
The study took more than a dozen passes of oxblood polish; under the ceiling downlights the panels read almost lacquered, with the grain of the movement still visible up close.
In the living area the same method was taken to a green cabinetry wall, where the polish shifts from deep forest in shadow to a bright, watery emerald in daylight.
