The house is built around a double-height entry, so every wall in the stair hall is read from three different levels at once. Anything with a visible joint or repeat would have shown immediately.

We laid marble-dust Venetian plaster in successive thin coats, scoring long horizontal reveals to echo the architecture, then compressed the final passes under a steel trowel until the surface held a low stone-like polish.

The recessed ceiling dome was leafed by hand in silver, then toned and sealed so it catches the chandelier at night without flaring under daylight from the arched window.
