Penthouse Elevator | Manhattan
A private penthouse elevator lobby finished in hand-rubbed French polish, tuned to sit quietly beside bronze mouldings and warm cove lighting.
The vestibule is small, fully enclosed and lit almost entirely from a concealed cove — every imperfection would have read at arm's length.
We built the French polish in successive rubbed sessions, each one thinner than the last, until the surface held a soft mirror without any visible pad marks.
Colour was matched on site to the bronze reveals so the panels shift from slate to warm graphite as the cove light moves across them.
